Our Impact

$4.4 Million and Counting

Since 2012, we’ve invested more than $4.4 million in our community by partnering with local nonprofit organizations that serve our focus areas of health, housing, hunger, and education.

We carefully select charities that demonstrate fiscal responsibility, social effectiveness, and a proven ability to deliver tangible results.

When we team up with these organizations, critical change happens.

Partner Spotlight: Sandalwood Community Food Pantry

Creating a True Sense of Community

Fifteen years ago, Dr. Nannette Pierson witnessed hunger among children at Sandalwood Terrace on Hilton Head Island and knew she had to act. “What saddened me most was that these little ones had empty stomachs, but they also had empty eyes, void of a child’s twinkle,” said Dr. Pierson. So she resolved to help her neighbors in need, one at a time.

On February 17, 2009, she opened the doors of Sandalwood Community Food Pantry in a small community room, serving just five families with five volunteers. Today, the Pantry has grown into a beacon of hope—serving 1,000 to 1,300 families monthly through the tireless efforts of over 80 volunteers.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: BACKPACK BUDDIES OF GREATER BLUFFTON

Feeding Hungry Children – One Backpack at a Time

For many families, we know the fall season brings school homework, sports, and additional activities but we often don’t realize that for some children the concern of having food can get in the way. The reality is that many children are likely to have no food in their homes over the weekend. Our charity partner, Backpack Buddies of Greater Bluffton, is dedicated to positively influencing the health, stability and well-being of the children.

In 2010, Sue & Ken Kroupa founded Backpack Buddies after the encouragement from the Low Country Food Bank and with assistance from three local churches. Since then, this grass roots effort has grown to serve over 1100 children monthly.
